Did anybody notice that Duke was unranked last week for the first time since the ESPN/USA Today poll? Well I did. Let me tell you about it. The Blue Devils reemerged into No. 17 after they took care of business against B.C. and Georgia Tech. But before that, they were nowhere to be seen.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the Blue Devils seem to be on the right track now, and if they can put together a good SEC performance, they might move a little further away from The Bubble, up around…
Well, what do they call it? The area in the rankings between the twenties Bubble, and the Top Five? The area of the rankings where Kansas, Memphis and Pitt seem to have found a home? I think I’ll call it, the Monster Energy Drink Performance Six through Thirteen Presented by Pabst Blue Ribbon.
If you think that college hoops phrases need to be slowed down with some sponsoring, don’t get Final Four or Sweet Sixteen tickets at StubHub.com. Somebody is losing a lot of ad space, but not me.
The NBA’s new “one year rule” seems like a great deal for everybody. For the players themselves, they gain experience against quality opponents and another year to mature into adulthood. For fans of college hoops, you get to see a star play for your school for a year. For the NBA, fans can quit bothering them about bringing in players that are too young to handle pro basketball stardom.
Everything is fine. The rule solved everything. For once in life, something is great for everybody. Life, it seems, will be forever a beautiful, painless tea party parade–
Bobby Knight!
Not so fast. Bobby Knight has something to spittle about that. Knight pontificated to his cowering imps yesterday that the new rule that would allow Kevin Durant to play just one season at Texas before leaving for the NBA, was “the worst thing that’s happened to college basketball since I’ve been coaching.”
Although I’m sure that statement will be qualified after his next loss, you can see Kevin Durant flout academic integrity by getting Texas Longhorns tickets at StubHub.com.
