Louisville coach Rick Pitino signed a contract extension yesterday which will pay him $2.25 million next year. His annual salary used to be a meager $1.65 million. He also boosted a current loyalty bonus so that instead of receiving $1 million on July 1st , simply for staying in Louisville that long, he will now get $1.75 million. Rough life.
Of course, Pitino is one of the most well-known coaches around NCAA basketball. He has been outstanding with the Louisville Cardinals so far. His current record with the team is 142-58. He won a national title with Kentucky in 1996 and went to the Final Four with Louisville in 2005.
