Billy D Still with Gators

It looks like the Florida Gators will get to keep Billy Donovan. He was flirting with the idea of coaching for the Orlando Magic, but has settled back in with his Gators. The way Donovan has gone about the possible move can be equated to Kobe Bryant’s recent trade-talk circus acts. Well, no one can really match Kobe on that point, but you get the meaning. And distinguishing himself even further from Kobe, Donovan himself even apologized to the Magic, fans, and beyond, admitting that he had made a mistake.

Donovan actually went as far as being formally introduced by the Magic before he withdrew, thus proving cold feet is not only for the wedding altar. He explained that his passion and heart was still deeply entrenched in Gainesville; quite possibly forever. It’s curious to consider the finality of his decision. How can one come so close to coaching in the NBA, step down within 24 hours, and then say that the NCAA counsel will be their everlasting resting place?
