Louisville: the anti-Arkansas

There were plenty of stories at ESPN.com about the Arkansas Razorbacks’ fall from grace in pretty much all aspects of their athletic program. For the Louisville Cardinals, however, the story has been very different. Recently Pat Forde did an article about a rare stat that the Cardinals just acquired: they are one of only two programs that has been in a college world series, a BCS bowl game and an NCAA Final Four in the past three years. The other school on that list is the University of Florida.

The Cardinals made that short list in a bit of an unexpected manner, considering that their athletic budget is about half of that of their Gainesville competitors, and they get only a fraction of the Gators’ hype and recruiting advantages.
