Even though we post here every day about college basketball news, rumors and upcoming games, you will always want to hear what Dick Vitale has to say. He posts “Roundball Chatter” every Friday, and today was one you should really check out. He starts off by addressing the NBA ref scandal, which has been on the minds of everybody in the sports world. Like a true basketball lover and hopeless romantic, DV contends that Donaghy is an isolated case, and that “99.9%” of refs to a “super, super job.” While I would love to have his kind of blind faith and loyalty, I am pretty sure that those stats aren’t accurate. You’ve got to love his enthusiasm, though.
There’s some good stuff about some of the upcoming games this season, including a deal where Michigan State and Texas agreed to play each other for four consecutive years. Those should be fun to watch. He even waited to plug his own tournament, the Dickie V Classic at Madison Square Garden, until part way down the page. It should be a good one, though, with USC battling Memphis.
If you would like to get NCAA basketball tickets to the games that Dickie V talks about, then you can get them at StubHub.com.
Northern Iowa will represent the USA in the World University Games, one of the many international basketball competitions this summer. The Games will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, and will feature teams from different universities around the nation. The Northern Iowa Panthers are very excited to get the opportunity to play with the team USA red, white and blue uniforms, and there are high hopes that this team, which has the advantage of playing together all year round, will have success where other US basketball teams have failed in international competition
Said Ben Jacobson, head coach for Northern Iowa, “There’s a different responsibility that we have in representing the United States. The playing of games, there’s a different feel to it and approach to it, and that side of it we’ve taken very seriously. That’s been our top priority. We’re trying to put everything in to be prepared to represent the country to the best of our ability, and we’ll see benefits from that next season, no question.”
After they get back from the Pacific Rim, you can get Northern Iowa Panthers basketball tickets at StubHub.com to see them play here in America.
Skip Prosser was the head basketball coach at Wake Forest University for years, and in that time he left an indelible mark on nearly everybody who he came into contact with. His services were yesterday, with thousands watching a simulcast on a big screen and many notable college and pro basketball faces in the crowd. Chris Paul, now an NBA star with the New Orleans Hornets, remembered Prosser as someone who changed his life forever, who helped him grown not just as a basketball player, but as a man as well.
Those seemed to be the sentiments of every single person who ever knew the man. Many people talked about his unwavering integrity, his spirit, his kindness and, of course, his love of college hoops. Prosser had an amazing career as a coach, and his statistics were incredible, having achieved a lifetime record of 291-146, and 126-68 as the Demon Deacons coach.
Thankfully, you will still get to see Prosser’s legacy live on when you get Wake Forest Demon Deacon basketball tickets at StubHub.com.
