In one of the biggest games of the college basketball season so far the No. 8 Texas Longhorns defeated the No. 1-ranked UCLA Bruins. Texas managed to pull out a dramatic 63-61 win in hostile territory after a dunk by Damion James that you can probably see on every Texas highlight film by the end of the year. You might even get to see it when “One Shining Moment” plays at the end of the NCAA Tournament- if Texas wins the national title game. And with the way they handled their tough early-season game versus the best team in the nation (and a Final Four team last year) they certainly have proved that they should be considered one of the favorites to get to the Final.
If you check out the ESPN recap of the game, you will see a little graphic below the box scores that’s always interesting to study, especially if you watched the full game. It’s a graph that shows the flow of the game with respect to the scoring. You can see where Texas jumped out to a 16-point lead in the first half as the UCLA offense basically stood still for ten minutes. But then you can see how close the teams were almost immediately after halftime.
