Whenever we go to SportsIllustrated.com to check out a college basketball story, we inevitably wind up at Luke Winn’s Tourney Blog, which is one of the best of the bunch out there. If you go to the blog, you’ll see that on April Fools Day Luke picked his All-Second Weekend Team, meaning that he picked the five guys who were the best of the group in the second weekend of play- the Sweet Sixteen and the Elite Eight. He came into it with one idea in mind- to have the team made up of only winners who have moved onto the Final Four. However, he could not help but make an exception for Stephen Curry. His team:
G – Stephen Curry (Davidson)
G – Derrick Rose (Memphis)
G – Chris Douglas-Roberts (Memphis)
F – Kevin Love (UCLA)
F – Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina)
Agree with the picks, although if Winn were going to be ultra strict to his ideals (only pick players who are still alive in the tournament), who would replace Curry? Kansas is underrepresented, but that’s more a compliment about their even distribution than anything. The Final Four Blog is going to go with Darren Collison of UCLA, who, although he was not spectacular in the second weekend, brings a bunch of experience to the backcourt that Rose does not have.
