I Say This Every Year, but I Really Mean It this Time: This Was the Best Class Ever!

Was 2007 the most mature college basketball class ever? Will Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, Eric Gordon and Kevin Love all turn out to be great NBA players right from the get-go? Are they all polished, refined, finished products, while those one-and-doners of years past and years to come all somehow less instantly affective in the pro game? Lots of good questions, true, and Dana O’Neil of ESPN seems to think that she has a few answers.

While it is true that Beasley, Rose, Mayo, Gordon and Love all seem like they could instantly get a nice starting or key reserve role in the NBA next year, some are saying that this kind of class is more the exception than the rule. When the college basketball recruiters and experts look at the class of 2008, they seem to think that they’re just not as “ready” as last year’s class. Of course, these are just predictions, and the might even be a little rosy-colored because one class just ended, and naturally you’re going to be a little attached to it. Hopefully the next class lives up to the high standards of this last one. Big shoes to fill, though.
