There have been two big storylines going on in the college basketball world- that of the hiring of the new Athletic Director at Notre Dame and the continuing saga of incoming freshman hoops player Brandon Jennings. Here’s the follow-up.
Notre Dame hired Jack Swarbrick, a lawyer from Indianapolis who graduated from Notre Dame. Apparenly he’s had his hand in getting several large market sporting events, like the Super Bowl and the Final Four, to the city of Indianapolis. Most fans are happy with the decision, even though there is some skepticism because he has no real experience as an athletic director at any level. He now will take over the biggest AD job in the nation.
Brandon Jennings has signed to play with an Italian basketball team, Pallacanestro Virtus Roma. He signed a three year contract to play in Italy after trying out for several teams. The contract can be bought out if NBA teams come knocking at the door when Jennings becomes old enough to play in the NBA. He still does not know if he received a college entrance exam score that could have allowed him to play at Arizona. Oh well. He’s employed now, and he should be for some time to come.
