Hoops fans finally have a poll to debate. The preseason Division I Coaches’ Poll has just been released, and (surprise, surprise) North Carolina’s Tar Heels are at the top of the list. UNC received all 31 No. 1 votes, with no other team receiving a No. 1 vote. Connecticut and Louisville follow on the heels of the Heels at No. 2 and 3, respectively.
Overall there aren’t too many surprises, and there typically never are in these preseason polls. UCLA at No. 4 seems a bit odd to the Final Four Blog, considering that they were absolutely decimated by the NBA Draft, and will be nothing like last season’s Final Four team. The same can be said of Kansas, who appear on the list at No. 23.
The Big East was the most represented conference in the Poll, with a total of seven teams making the top 25, and another two in the “Others Receiving Votes” category. The Big East has tree teams ranked in the top ten, with Notre Dame coming in at No. 9. How will the AP Poll compare? Stay tuned to find out!
