Basketball Assistant Kearney to Holy Cross; Ingelsby Promoted

Sometimes things can move pretty quickly during the offseason, especially in the world of college basketball coaching. Just the other day, for example, Notre Dame’s assistant basketball coach Sean Kearney left for the head coaching job at Holy Cross. His assistant job was filled almost immediately by Martin Ingelsby, another assistant coach (actually the coordinator of basketball operations) at Notre Dame who was promoted to the head assistant coaching position.

The moves ought to work out great for both coaches. Kearney was able to win the position at Holy Cross because their former head coach, Ralph Willard, left to work under RickPitino at Louisville. Both Kearney and Ingelsby are being promoted. For Inglesby , the assistant job at Notre Dame is a great blast off point for a future head coaching gig, as in the case of Kearney. Or, if Fighting Irish head coach MikeBrey ever retires or gets another head coaching job in the NBA or something, he’s in a good position to swoop in. Congratulations are in order from us here at the Notre Dame Blog to the coaches on their promotions! nice work, gentlemen!
